EL PASO, Texas - There's nothing like preparing for a match day, the sun sets, and the goals are set up, ready for players to test themselves. That's the vibe at BVB International Academy, El Paso's newest program, Friday Finishing.
After just two sessions, cleary this is no ordinary practice. With only 20 spots available each session, the focus is on quality over quantity. Every player is getting meaningful reps on goal, while gaining immediate feedback from coaches, and the chance to go beyond their limits in a supportive environment.
Friday Finishing runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Saipan Ledo Park, with future sessions scheduled for Oct 3rd, Oct 10th, Oct 17th, and Oct 24th. The program is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 18, and what's unique is that it isn't just for strikers. Midfielders, defenders, and even goalkeepers who want to improve their shooting technique are stepping up and getting valuable practice.
The goal is simple: help players build confidence in front of the goal. The drills are designed to sharpen technique, improve consistency, and add composure under pressure. With BVB El Paso's coaching staff leading the way, every session feels like a mix of hard work and fun competitive competition.
"I'm excited to share some early successes from our Friday Finishing program! Although it's a new initiative, the players who participated have already shown remarkable improvement in their matches, with two out of nine participants scoring goals this past week. This program is designed to enhance shooting technique, build player confidence, and provide numerous repetitions on goal. What is most rewarding to see is the players' enthusiasm for seeking out additional training opportunities beyond their regular schedule to develop their skills. We are committed to introducing more innovative programs like this to invigorate the club atmosphere further," said Coach Nancy.
Parents have already noticed a difference. Players are going into weekend games with more confidence and more willingness to take shots. As for the kids, there's nothing better than ending the week by hitting the back of the net and celebrating afterwards.
